Chebelihle admin block and classrooms complete
In the past seven months we have taken fifteen people from this community and brought them from breadline earnings if not less and elevated them to employed and motivated and now starting to think about the possibilities for their futures

We have doubled the amount of classrooms at the school and our presence will be felt for months to come.The difference in the community is noticible with alot more development like new houses and a much more substantial spaza shop who has grown with the new demand

To Open a blog again and write down what we have been up to for the past two years seems like a daunting task but just feel we should document some of the work we have done Largest Rammed Earth Structure in South Africa Hoyo Hoyo Conference center  This building surprised the client from start to finish what was planned to be a convenience store turned into the most beautiful and eye catching buildings in the Acornhoek area close to Hoedspruit    We used  a mixture of face brick and rammed earth as well as some insitu concrete beams to span the eight meter  door the Rammed earth used here has tested in the region of 28MPA which is huge strength totally unnecessary but has given birth to a very hard durable building that will be maintenance free for many years to come Eight hundred meters under roof for  Two thousand per meter   Green Building at less than a quarter conventional cost The Rustic building gave space to do an unconventional floor

Rammed earth specifications and history

Rammed Earth (pisé) rammed earth walls are constructed by ramming a mixture of selected aggregates, including gravel, sand, silt and a small amount of clay, into place between flat panels called formwork. Traditional technology involved repeatedly ramming the end of a wooden pole into the earth mixture to compress it. Modern technology replaces the pole with a mechanical ram. Stabilised rammed earth is a variant of traditional rammed earth that adds a small amount of cement (typically between 5 and 10 per cent) to add strength and durability. Stabilised rammed earth walls need little added protection but are usually coated with a permeable sealer to increase the life of the material – this varies with circumstance and there are thousands of unstabilised rammed earth buildings around the world that have given good service over many centuries.
